My aquos blu ray player does not recognize any data in my memory stick….can you help?

I formatted the stick to FAT.

I downloaded the new firmware and then decompressed - stuck it in the blu ray. Every time it checks and then says it cannot find any informtion in the memory stick.

    Thanks

Steven, the problem should be on your memory stick. Formatting the stick to FAT is the way it should, as recommended. I ‘m not saying your stick is broken since it work for the copying firmware stuff. But BD-HP20 has a major incompatibility with other hardwares.

Things you can do to check:

    1. Make sure your stick is in a good shape.

You said you’ve successfully downloaded the new firmware and then decompressed the file, right? Let us assume : you did that on your stick.
Alrite, Plug it in, to your pc, and try to open the file in that stick. Is it opened? Try another read & write from your PC. If your file failed to open in your PC, then it would do exactly the same at your BD-HP20.
Your solution in this point is: replace your stick.

    2. You’ve done the #1 checking.

Your stick is doing fine, but still un-readable by the player. What’s next?

Your solution in this point is: use another stick.

I ‘ve done the testing my self, at my client’s BD-HP20 player. I use 2 sticks, the same brand which is Sandisk 2Gb. The first one not readable by the player, while the other works just fine.

May I repeat, I use the exact same stick for the testing, Sandisk 2Gb.

    Hope it help.
    Thanks :)

I am in the UK. I have a B region BD-HP20 Blue Ray Machine. Purchased ‘ Nania Prince Caspian’ Audio is 7.1 hd: There is no audio . (ok with 5.1 discs)..So as the player is a year or so old I downloaded and installed a firmware update. 8040100. The region has now been changed from B and the discs unplayable.
    Please can you advise?
    Regards.

I have had the same problem as Bruce Winters - Bruce did you solve this? Does anyone have an answer?

Is there a way of reverting back to the original firmware?

    Thanks,
    JS

We had the same problem. However, you need to take the download file out of the yellow folder on your memory stick. The blu-ray will not recognize the new download in a folder. Hope this helps you, it worked for me.
Or you can open the download from the website and then extract that file to your memory stick. When extracting, the program, it will only save the downlaod file and not the whole folder.

The instructions clearly state that the file must be in the “root” directory.
